DMCs Say Business Is Up
Nearly half (47 percent) of the members of the
Association of Destination Management Executives expect their
business volume will increase this year over 2002 numbers,
according to a recent poll.
One-quarter of the 135 member destination management firms
surveyed by the Denver-based association predicted their business
would decrease in 2003, and 28 percent expected no change.
The study also queried members on average lead times for
planning programs. International corporations gave DMCs an average
of 80 days lead time for meetings; U.S. corporations, 90 days;
incentive houses, 116 days; and associations, 243 days.
Education was cited as the top benefit of belonging to ADME (23
percent), followed by networking (22 percent), access to peers’
models of practice (19 percent) and Destination Management
Certified Professional certification (18 percent).
