Meetings & Conventions: Short Cuts October 1998

October 1998
Short Cuts:ETC.Piggy bags: Gourmet leftovers from The Dining
Room at the Hilton at Short Hills (N.J.) don't go to waste. Since
January 1998 the restaurant has been recycling its table scraps and
serving them to cows, pigs and other livestock. The program has
saved the hotel almost $25,000 in garbage disposal costs as of
August, and the animals enjoyed nearly 129 tons of fine fare.
Planning a meeting in summer 2000? A reminder from
our attorney friends at Howe & Hutton, Ltd: Democratic and
Republican party conventions may preempt hotel and convention
center space. Both parties still have long lists of possible
cities. Keep tabs on convention dates and final locations to avoid
trouble later on.
