What will the hotel business look like 25 years
from now? Alumni of the Cornell University School of Hotel
Administration expect to see hotels built on water (88 percent) and
even underwater (60 percent). A creative 8 percent predict hotel
development in space. Megahotels are also on the horizon; a quarter
of the 720 surveyed think the industry will have a 10,000-room
hotel by 2022. But will it overbook?
Zippergate may be partially to blame for the fact that Americans
consider "ethics, morality and family decline" among the biggest
problems facing our country, according to the latest poll by The
Gallup Organization. The only greater worry in the April 1998
survey was "crime and violence."
