Meetings & Conventions: Short Cuts April 1999

April 1999
Short Cuts:ETC.
American Express and Crowne Plaza
Hotels and Resorts inked a deal that reserves club floors at the
chain’s 20 U.S. properties for customers of American Express
Travel. Guests pay less than the typical corporate rate, claims the
agency, and get amenities and privileges. You don’t have to be a
regular AmEx travel customer to get the same deal, says a
spokesperson. You even can pay with Visa.
Rep. Bud Shuster (R-Pa.) proposed a
measure that would force airlines to compensate passengers stuck on
runways. They would get twice their air fare if left sitting more
than two hours, three times the fare for waits of three to four
hours, and so on. Wouldn’t that be nice?
