Regardless of whether cell phone use actually does increase the
risk of brain tumors, investing in a headset that plugs into the
phone frees hands for easier driving, typing or gesticulating --
while keeping the radioactive receiver away from your head.
Jabra Corp. (www.jabra.com) has a compact unit that
tucks into your ear. The Jabra EarSet features a
microphone and a speaker wrapped into one piece. It is made of soft
plastic, called EarGel, and works with cellular and mobile phones,
plugging into the 2.5 millimeter jack.
The firm also makes headsets for cordless phones and computers.
The basic cellular phone and cordless phone set costs $39.95; the
computer model and sets for Nokia and Ericsson phones are
$49.95.
