Known for its Stratocaster electric guitars, the Fender Musical
Instruments Corp. has some portable sound systems that can blow an
event away. The Passport 150 and
250 are easy to transport, weighing 28 and 53
pounds, and can be set up in less than five minutes. The only
difference between the two is the wattage: 150-watt sound from the
smaller version and 250 watts from the larger. Otherwise, both come
with two speakers; multiple inputs that allow instruments,
microphones or PCs to be amplified; and switchable line voltage, so
the system can be plugged in around the world. The 150 costs $699;
the 250, $950. For information, e-mail Fender at fmicproav@iname.com or visit www.fender.com.
