FOR THE BOOKSHELF
Worlds to Imagine: Dream Journeys for Romantic Travelers;
and Nights to Imagine: Magical Places to Stay in America, by Peter
Guttman, Fodor’s Travel Publications, Inc., New York City, $18 and
$17, respectively
Plotting a romantic Valentine’s Day or a special winter getaway?
These miniature coffee table books will send hearts yearning for
distant lands or at least keep your date busy flipping through the
pretty pictures while you finish getting ready for dinner out at
the local Italian place. Worlds to Imagine highlights 29
destinations worldwide, from Bora Bora to Burma, each with a few
gorgeous photographs (taken by the author) and just enough
descriptive prose to make the reader want to be there immediately.
A back-of-the-book index gives contacts and pricing information for
those who might actually go. Nights, meanwhile, profiles
32 places to stay in the United States. Peter Guttman might go for
just a night, but the rest of us would probably call it a vacation.
Want more? There’s another book in the series: Adventures to
Imagine: Thrilling Escapes in North America.
