FOR THE BOOKSHELF
PLANNING SUCCESSFUL MEETINGS AND EVENTS by Ann J. Boehme,
AMACOM, New York City, $12.95
Independent planner Ann Boehme draws on more than 23 years in
the business in this
everything-you-need-to-know-about-meeting-planning book. It has
enough detail to offer pointers to those who’ve been doing the job
for a while, but is most appropriate for the neophyte who needs to
sit down and read the easy 168 pages over the weekend, then keep
the book on a shelf in the office for easy reference.
MORE SECRETS OF SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITING, compiled by Susan A.
Friedmann, Aviva Publishing, Lake Placid, N.Y., $19.95
This is the second book in the “Secrets” series, in which Susan
Friedmann, a speaker and self-described “trade-show coach,”
packages advice from industry experts. The advice is sound, ranging
from “Speeding to Market Successfully” to “Working Effectively With
the International Customer,” but the two-page advertisements
between chapters apparent payback for the experts’ contributions
are a bit disconcerting.
