Taking off: Miami Air’s incentive business is growing.
IMEX Debuts; EIBTM Moves On
More than 2,500 hosted meeting and incentive
buyers attended the inaugural Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive
Travel Meetings and Events (IMEX), held April 8-10 in Frankfurt,
Germany.
The majority of hosted planners were European. Chris Pentz, CMP,
from Levittown, Pa., one of the few U.S. planners to attend, said
she found IMEX “very useful for meeting global suppliers.”
The show also attracted 2,200 exhibitors from 119 countries.
Meanwhile, 3,500 hosted planners and 3,000 exhibitors were
slated to take part in the European Incentive & Business Travel
& Meetings Exhibition in Geneva, May 20-22.
EIBTM, run by Reed Travel Exhibitions, will move to Barcelona
next year , running Nov. 30 Dec. 2. The show was started by Ray
Bloom, who now owns IMEX.
Can the industry support two events? Jayne Buck, vice president,
tourism, at the Metro Denver Convention & Visitors Bureau, was
among the exhibitors taking measure of both, because “we’ll
participate only in one show in 2004 and beyond.”
