The International Association
of conference centers has tapped Warren Call, 27, a sales
associate at the Crystal Center at Crystal Mountain in
Thompsonville, Mich., as board associate responsible for
identifying and advising the board of directors on emerging trends
for generations X and Y.
The British Government
has passed a resolution doubling the Air Passenger Duty tax on all
flights leaving the United Kingdom, effective Feb. 1. The tax on
economy-class tickets for long-haul flights is now $78.58; on
business class, $141.14.
Gaylord Entertainment
co. has proposed a $400 million expansion of its Gaylord
Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, which will
add approximately 400,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space,
along with 400 new guest rooms. If approved, the addition will be
completed by the end of 2010.
Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts has unveiled
Talise, its own global spa brand. The new spa concept will be
available at select properties.
