Association Leadership launched an online buyer’s guide
(www.asaebuyersguide.com), which the association says
is in response to member requests. The guide will provide greater
search capabilities than the printed version, which will continue
to be published.
Atlantic City’s city
council voted unanimously to prohibit smoking on all casino floors,
with the exception of dedicated smoking lounges. The ordinance is
expected to go into effect on Oct. 15.
The exhibition
industry grew 3.2 percent in 2007, according to the fifth
annual Center for Exhibition Research’s CEIR Index. Of the 11
sectors tracked, government meetings performed the best, increasing
12.6 percent over 2006.
New York City’s Piers
92 and 94 are slated to get a $100 million renovation, which will
add 215,000 square feet of exhibit space to the existing 140,000
square feet.

Co. has pulled out of a deal to acquire the Westin La
Cantera Resort in San Antonio for $252 million.
