A new tool can turn your monitor into a touch-screen. FastPoint
Technologies (www.fastpoint.com) based in Stanton,
Calif., sells Light Pens that take over the duties of a mouse. The
pens can be plugged in three ways: with an internal interface that
adds a plug to the back of the computer; with a one-port external
Light Pen box, and through a four-port USB hub for plugging in a
Light Pen and a mouse. The pen comes with barrel and cord options,
and its optics come in standard, extra-sensitive (to sense light on
darker screens) or telescopic (for use up to 12 inches from the
screen). The price per pen: from $199 to $334; interfaces range
from $199 to $299.
