When buying a new computer setup, many people
skimp on the monitor, figuring anything with a decent picture will
do. Now, thanks to new flat-screen innovations originally created
for TV sets, choices are more significant. ViewSonic
Corp. of Walnut, Calif. (www.viewsonic.com)
offers a line of flat-screen monitors. The 22-inch P220f
PerfectFlat Monitor (pictured at left) has a maximum 1600
by 1200 resolution and a screen that is PC and Mac compatible.
Cost: $955.
ViewSonic also offers ViewPanels LCD displays.
The 15-inch VG151 ($1,095) is only 2.3 inches deep and weighs 10.6
pounds. The 18.1-inch VG181 ($2,859) is 3 inches deep and 22
pounds. Both have analog and digital inputs and can be
wall-mounted.
