FAST FORWARD

There are times when even masters of Palm graffiti can’t take notes
quickly enough. That’s where the Olympus V90 Digital Voice
Recorder ($99) comes in. Perfect for recording meetings,
lectures or interviews, the fetching gadget captures 90 minutes of
audio without the use of cassettes. Weighing only 1.6 ounces, the
V90 has two recording modes, with 33- and 90-minute playback. An
LCD display helps navigate between three folders, which store up to
99 messages each. The third folder is dedicated to scheduling
tasks; reminders can be programmed to play at a given time. The
voice activation feature has a low volume setting, so background
noise does not set it off; an earphone jack ensures recordings
remain private during playback.
