Peanuts and pretzels are out. San Francisco-based Kimpton Group
Hotels (www.kimptongroup.com) is loading its honor bars with
hard-to-resist goodies like massage oils and upscale beverages. At
the Hotel Rouge in Washington, D.C., the color red is the theme,
with red pistachios, red M&Ms and even Red Hook Ale Beer (see
above). The Monticello Inn entices bookworms with a selection of
paperbacks chosen from the Oprah Book Club and The New York Times
bestseller lists. Nursing a hangover? The Hotel Triton in San
Francisco stocks Red Bull energy drinks and various hangover
remedies.
