Here, F&B means

Write what you know.
It works for Daniel Edward Craig, vice president of Opus Hotels and
general manager of the Opus Vancouver, whose first novel,
Murder at the Universe (Midnight Ink), debuted this fall.
“My characters are inspired by the colorful personalities and
bizarre situations I have encountered in my career,” Craig
says.
The plot centers around the death of a
hotel owner during a conference and a pushy planner who exploits
the incident to gain media coverage for her event.
“She is a parody of a bad planner,”
Craig explains. “Fortunately, in my 12 years of working in hotels,
I’ve worked with all kinds of meeting planners, but none like
her.”
Murder at the Universe is the
first in a projected series of mysteries; a sequel is scheduled to
be published in June 2008. For a daily dose of hotel drama, log
