Alaska Voters on Aug.
22 approved measures to tax a cruise line’s corporate earnings and
gambling revenues reaped while in the state’s waters, as well as to
assess a $50 per-passenger head tax. The levies are slated to be
implemented in 2007.
The Metropolitan Pier &
Exposition Authority, which operates Chicago’s McCormick
Place, signed a new five-year contract with Local 17 Decorators
Union. To expire on June 30, 2011, the contract will benefit
exhibitors and show organizers through reduced costs and greater
work-rule flexibility.
Wyndham Hotel Group
and Corinthia Group have agreed to jointly manage hotels under the
Wyndham and Ramada brands in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Under the deal, 15 Corinthia-owned hotels will be rebranded, while
other properties will become part of a new tier, the Wyndham Grand
Collection.
Ryanair, the Irish budget carrier, will begin
offering cellular service on its fleet in mid-2007, making it the
first European carrier to do so.
