Meetings & Conventions: Short Cuts January 2002

January 2002
Short
Cuts:On the SpotWhat is your New Year’s resolution?“My resolution for 2002 is to spend more time involved
in my own backyard, so to speak. I am presently on the board of
directors for my homeowners association, but I feel I really need
to do more. I plan to get involved with an outreach project to help
those less fortunate in Houston.”
Lori Carper
Director of Meetings
Houston Association of Realtors
Houston, Texas
“My New Year’s resolution is to confirm all my plenary
speakers well before our annual conference in May. The conference’s
theme is about dealing with crises, and due to the crisis in
Afghanistan, some of the speakers are now in the Middle East.
Anything can happen over there, so one never knows if they will
definitely attend.”
Kathryn Guare
Deputy Director, Annual Conference
Global Health Council
White River Junction, Vt.
“I already do some work with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts,
but this year I definitely want to become more involved in the
local scouting scene. Working and helping to educate children is so
worthwhile.”
Carolyn Wood
Director, Convention Programming
Association of Old Crows
Alexandria, Va.
