Meetings & Conventions: Short Cuts December 2000

Cuts:On the SpotWhat is the best giveaway you’ve presented at a company
party?“At a staff holiday party, we gave away a crisp $100
bill, but the winner had to spend it within the next 60 minutes and
was not allowed to go straight to a bar. After the initial shock,
the winner left the building and disappeared into the night. When
he came back, he had to show the rest of us what he had
purchased.”

“Signed Tiger Woods golf balls have proven to be the
best giveaway in recent years. In fact, they’re almost becoming
impossible to find. Any piece of sports memorabilia is a big hit,
mainly because it is something most people do not have. The main
problem at such events is finding fresh, interesting
ideas.”

“We’ve given away many things as presents, but we still
find that the best gifts, the items guests are most thrilled to
have, are instant, digital photographs attractively presented in
engraved frames. Caricatures of guests are a close
second.”
