Meetings & Conventions: Short Cuts April 2000

April 2000
Short
Cuts:On the SpotWhat is your biggest work-related pet peeve ?"Clients who don't want to spend the time to create
written goals and objectives for their meetings. Actually, I have
two big pet peeves. I also can't stand meeting room doors that slam
when they close."

"My pet peeve is the phrase 'we need it by tomorrow.' I
am not sure what is happening with project management and creating
action calendars these days. It just seems that more often,
business is becoming a real 'let's wing it' kind of
thing."

"It blows my mind to check into a hotel room and find that
the air filter [in the air-conditioning unit] is filthy. I bring a
screwdriver and flashlight and use as needed, because I like to
breathe clean air. Some of the hoteliers I work with know how I
feel. One time, at a property I often work with, there was a note
in the filter from the director of catering and the convention
service manager. I loved it! They were on top of it and had a good
sense of humor."
