If you could change
one thing about the
meetings industry,
what would it be?
“It would be the double impact of hotel reservation cut-off dates
and attrition charges. If we have to pay for rooms, why can’t we
continue to try to fill them up to the event? The hotels are, in
fact, getting paid twice for the same room. They have a great deal
going.”

“I’d like to see independent planners
charge a fee to clients who request detailed proposals with
original ideas. Too many companies use our ideas and expertise for
free and then try to do it themselves or use the ideas they like
with another planner. They should have to pay for that.”
Dolores Rauschl

“I would like the industry to receive
more recognition for what we do. Too many people think we just
order some food and beers and blow up balloons. Not enough students
are aware of event management as an industry or career path.”
