Peerless: Sunning at
the
Viceroy Santa Monica
Sipping a pina colada
by the pool is even more appealing when the drink is delivered to a
private tent. It’s easy to spend the entire day in such a haven,
many of which are hooked up with TVs, butler service, spa
treatments and more.
At Florida’s Ritz-Carlton,
South Beach (www.ritzcarlton.com), poolside VIP Dens have
retractable shades over king-size beds. Spend $550 for the day and
get unlimited Fiji water, fruit, champagne, two 50-minute massages
and more.
Some cabanas will have automatic water
misters at the Sandals Grande Antigua’s new
Mediterranean Village (www.sandals.com), opening in February. All will
feature butler service.
Spa services and private yoga classes
can be arranged at the Westin Kierland Resort &
Spa’s pool in Scottsdale, Ariz. (www.kierlandresort.com). Guests can even have an
exercise machine delivered outdoors.
In California, couches line the three
elegant cabanas at the Viceroy Santa Monica (www.viceroysantamonica.com), available for up to 25
people. Outside the property’s Whist Restaurant in the Chef’s
Cabana, executive chef Warren Schwartz will serve seven-course
meals.
The Wilderness Hotel & Golf
Resort (www.wildernessresort.com) in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.,
offers 24 cabanas at two outdoor pools, each with a 25-inch TV.
Groups can rent several cabanas in a row.
