out without necessarily going anywhere.
W Hotels is offering guests a complimentary text-messaging
service that keeps them in the loop, even while off-property. And
it works both ways: Guests also can text the hotel for any reason,
whether to make a spa appointment or to inquire about a room
change.
The texting trend extends to other hotels, too. At the upscale
new Wailea Beach Villas in Maui, guests can voice their needs on a
T-Mobile Sidekick as part of the resort’s Privacy Sidekick service.
The price for checking if the minibar is stocked with the right
brand of bottled water, or whether the helicopter tour has been
arranged? A tidy $100 a day.
