Short Cuts:Seminar On the range
America’s West abounds in venue possibilities and cowboy skills
are not necessary. At the 16-room Rocking C Ranch (208-221-0319; www.rockingcranch.com) in
Huntsville, Utah, the only prerequisite is a willingness to “get
back to nature and get to know each other,” says owner Terri Cates.
Groups learn hands-on ranching skills and come away with lessons in
communication and camaraderie. The ranch accommodates day visits
for up to 150.
The 110-acre Sandy Valley Ranch (702-631-0463; www.sandyvalley.com) in Sandy
Valley, Nev., offers cattle roundups and overnight treks into the
Nevada desert. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel recently brought
2,400 employees to Sandy Valley for a series of two-day bonding
retreats over trail rides and cattle penning. For other corporate
cattle drives in the United States and Mexico, contact Georgetown,
Texas-based Experiential Challenge Programs (512-863-5514; www.ecprograms.com).
