Carb lovers, rejoice. This year,
Gaylord Hotels has standardized its in-room food-and-beverage
offerings across its brand, meaning that guests at any Gaylord
property can arrange to have a loaf of freshly baked bread waiting
for them upon check-in. The service, which does carry a $70 price
tag, is a special way for planners to welcome their VIP guests,
says Giorgio Di Lemis, vice president of F&B for Gaylord.
“VIP amenities can be overdone,” notes
Di Lemis. “What VIPs are looking for is customization, not yet
another fruit basket.”
Gaylord can do fresh fruit, too, as
well as smoked salmon “lollipops,” tapas, artisanal cheese spreads
and more. But having piping-hot bread ready to be plucked from the
in-room bread-making machine has the biggest impact.
“This is our number-one amenity,” Di
Lemis says. “Special guests can’t believe how well the program is
executed.”
Bread is served with jams, mustards and
cold cuts. The only catch is the hotel will need to know the
estimated time of arrival (so the machine can be turned on).
