More than mud wraps and massage
Spa Spreads Native Wisdom
At the newly opened 250-room Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds
Plantation, in Greensboro, Ga., groups are introduced to the
traditional ways of the area’s Creek tribe of Native Americans by
John Winterhawk, spiritual leader of the Eufala Star Clan.
Winterhawk (above) leads sessions on storytelling, music and
spiritual remedies, and he also gives talks on tribal history and
language. Time-honored Creek remedies are incorporated into spa
treatments, such as the Oconee mud wrap, a blend of wild yam,
elderberry, juniper and sage mixed with indigenous clay. (706)
