Meetings & Conventions: Short Cuts December 2000

December 2000
Short Cuts:There’s no Place like
Home

TTake the concept of working at home to a new level. A number of
firms are renting private, upscale homes for use by small,
corporate groups. Hold a board meeting at the dining room table,
and let attendees brew their own coffee in the kitchen. “Groups
appreciate the different perspective and more relaxing
environment,” says Laurie Harwell, director of marketing at
Memphis-based ResortQuest (877-588-5800; www.resortquest.com),
which has properties throughout the United States that accommodate
groups of up to a dozen.
Other firms offer rentals for a particular location. Vacation
Rentals (800-386-4628; www.bellavista-rentals.com) invites groups of up
to eight to book a condo at Bella Vista Village in the Ozark
Mountains of Arkansas.
