Short Cuts:WEB SITES WE LIKE
Food, glorious food. If you have a little time
before rushing off to the supermarket, pay a visit to Gotta Save?
(www.gottasave.com), which offers
coupon savings for hundreds of grocery items and specials from your
local grocery store. Got more time? Click on some of the coupons to
find food sites full of recipes, games, gifts and trivia. For
instance, at the Nabisco Neighborhood (www.nabisco.com), you can watch an
OREO commercial, find out how to make Planters Pecan Chocolate Chip
Pie or learn the story behind Barnum’s Animals Crackers (37
different kinds of animals have been put in the box since 1902).
Kellogg’s Cereal City USA (www.kelloggs.com/index_cc.html)
is equally fun, with a store, a kitchen, the Cereal City Times and
links to favorite-cereal sites. Some specific foods have excellent
sites of their own, like the National Pork Producers Council’s pork
site (www.nppc.org),
with tips on which cuts to buy, food safety and more. Greens and
grapes aren’t ignored: Broccoli has its own home (www.broccoli.com), and Dole (www.dole.com) has an
extensive site featuring its fresh fruit and vegetables. Just don’t
go surfing when you’re hungry.
