Meetings & Conventions: Short Cuts April 2000

April 2000
Short Cuts:WEB SITES WE LIKE
Hail, Britannica. In the search for facts and
figures on the Web, the Encyclopedia Britannica's site (www.britannica.com) is a
gold mine. A recent hunt for information on a destination returned
articles in the encyclopedia, rankings of and links to Web sites
featuring the destination, and magazine articles from as far back
as 1997 that referred to the place, however obscurely. The site is
a researcher's dream made real.
What the encyclopedia won't tell you... Want to
visit the quirky side of the country? Roadside America (www.roadsideamerica.com)
reviews such must-see side trips as the Angel Museum in Beloit,
Wis., and the Space Farms Zoo & Museum in Beemerville, N.J. For
Valentine's Day, the site covered the walk-through heart at the
Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and a heart made of
rattlesnake rattles at the Dairy Queen in Ozona, Texas.
