Short Cuts:WEB SITES WE LIKE
Talk of the town. If you're in New York City
and looking for a way to kill some time, check out the daily doings
listed at The New York Times' new New York Today site (www.nytoday.com). Aside
from restaurant reviews, nightlife suggestions, listings of music
and art events and lectures, the site imparts nifty bits of trivia
about Manhattan.
Because your boss is on vacation. We don't have
enough space here to give you the top 10 reasons to visit the Top
Ten Archives from the Late Show with David Letterman (marketing.cbs.com/lateshow/topten/archive). Suffice it to
say the lists going back to 1993 cover just about everything, and
the site even includes "lists that didn't make last night's
cut."
Feeling philanthropic? All major altruistic
organizations have found their way onto the Web, including the
Make-A-Wish Foundation (www.wish.org), which grants wishes to children with
terminal or life-threatening illnesses. Aside from the usual
monetary donations, the organization welcomes frequent flyer miles,
which help defray the cost of travel involved in the wish
fulfillment.
