Survey: Travel Managers Expect Pressure to Cut Costs

Nearly half of all travel managers are anticipating the pressure to cut costs in the next six months, according to a survey just released by corporate travel payment provider AirPlus. Forty-seven percent of the 152 corporate travel buyers polled expect to feel pressure to make changes. Of those, more than half (56 percent) anticipate shifting more travel to web conferences or telepresence conferences; 58 percent expect to see a stricter pre-trip approval process. "We began the year with optimism about rebounding from the economic decline, but this has changed now more into fear and uncertainty for what's to come," said Richard Crum, president and CEO of AirPlus International, in a statement.
