The 167-suite Embassy Suites Orlando-Downtown, in the Lake Eola central business district, is undergoing an extensive renovation.
The agenda for the project, which will be completed in the first quarter of 2018, includes an upgrade of the hotel's atrium, restaurant, bar, patios, pool and sundeck, fitness center, meeting space and guest rooms. The latter will be outfitted with new furniture, carpeting, appliances, 50-inch televisions and digital locks that interface with smartphones.
The property also will add 2,500 square feet of meeting space, giving it a total of 12,400 square feet; the in-house WiFi system already has been upgraded to increase speed and bandwidth. Additionally, the hotel's tree-canopied patio, which opens onto Central Avenue, will be enhanced to transform it into a venue for receptions. Chicago-based Gettys Group, an architecture and interior-design firm, designed the project.
The Embassy Suites Orlando-Downtown will remain open during the renovations. The hotel offers complimentary cooked-to-order breakfasts and evening managers' cocktail receptions; the restaurant, the Eola Café, serves local and traditional American fare.
