The Capitol Kempinski Hotel officially opened today in Singapore's downtown Civic and Cultural District, in a restored early-20th-century landmark originally known as the Capitol Building. The 157-room luxury hotel is the first Kempinski property in the city-state.
The new hotel is within the upscale, multiuse development known as Capitol Singapore, which also includes a 39-unit residential tower, a retail mall and the Capitol Theatre, all easily accessible to the adjacent City Hall MRT station.

The restored Capitol Kempinski builds on the structure's original colonial art deco and Victorian style to offer an updated, more stylishly modern but elegant atmosphere - complete with Travertine limestone columns, high-gloss rosewood lacquered finishes and Italian marble floors. The "Lady in Red," a signature Kempinski brand ambassador, greets guests upon arrival.

The high-ceilinged guest rooms come in 50 configurations, in part to conserve original aspects of the building's structure. Rooms are well-lit with natural light to show off intricate detailing. All room options have spacious living areas, free-standing tubs in the bathrooms, Sonos audio systems, work desks, complimentary nonalcoholic beverages from the minibar and free WiFi. Suites include a daily gourmet breakfast.

The Spa at the Capitol Kempinski offers a fusion of modern therapies and traditional Asian massages, and can arrange in-room treatments for those who prefer them. A gym and an outdoor saltwater relaxation pool also are on-site.

Meeting spaces include the fourth-floor Salon, which can accommodate up to 220 people with theater-style seating, along with a prefunction area for 120 people that includes an open kitchen. The Private Room can can accommodate up to 12 people.

On-site food-and-beverage options will begin to open in the coming months, among them a signature restaurant helmed by a three-starred Michelin chef. Details will be released shortly.
