One challenge at the Orlando World Center Marriott is "making a big hotel feel small," says Gary Dybul, director of sales and marketing for the 2,009-room resort. The property succeeds in doing so with its 275,000 square feet of indoor function space contained in a dedicated convention center.
A recent revamp created new outdoor event spaces, upgraded the lobby ("the heartbeat of the hotel") and added the new Latitude & Longitude restaurant, serving all three daily meals.
The latest debut is HyCube, a hydroponic vertical garden. "Forget farm to table," says Dybul. "This is pick to plate." On request, the resort will grow produce to be used in banquet menus. Up to 250 can dine on the Harvest Terrace, just outside HyCube.
