The 125-room 21c Museum Hotel has debuted in Durham, N.C., following a renovation of the art deco Hill Building, built in 1937 by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon architects, the Empire State Building's visionaries. The property offers 10,500 square feet of contemporary art exhibition space. The hotel is the brand's fourth; all feature contemporary art in rotating solo and group exhibitions. The inaugural exhibition, called "Pop Stars!," is a multimedia exploration of popular culture a decade and a half into the 21st Century. The exhibition space doubles as function space, accommodating events for up to 350 people. The Counting House restaurant and lounge focuses on regional dishes and seasonal ingredients.
