U.S. News & World Report Names Best Hotels of 2016

The Lodge at Sea Island in Sea Island, Ga. (left), is the best hotel in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report, which last week published its annual "Best Hotels" list.

Based on thousands of independent reviews from individuals and travel industry experts around the world, the rankings are drawn from a pool of more than 2,500 hotels across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Rounding out the top five hotels in the United States behind The Lodge at Sea Island are: The Jefferson in Washington, DC; ARIA Sky Suites in Las Vegas; the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka'upulehu on Hawaii's Big Island; and The Peninsula Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, CA.

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands is the No. 1 best hotel in the Caribbean; Rosewood Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen is the best hotel in Mexico; and the Ritz-Carlton, Montreal is tops in Canada for the third consecutive year.

"A great hotel can make your vacation, but travelers don't have to waste time searching for the perfect accommodations," said Erin Shields, travel editor for U.S. News. "The hotels on our list are adored by both travelers and expert reviewers for their high-quality amenities, comfortable rooms, and exceptional services."
