Hilton has shared plans to bring its new Canopy brand to Chicago. The 223-room Canopy by Hilton Chicago Loop is slated to open in the fall of 2018, on the corner of South LaSalle and West Adams streets in the city's financial district.
The new hotel will be a conversion of the top four floors of the historic-landmarked Daniel Burham building. Those floors currently are used for office space and share the building with the 610-room JW Marriott Chicago, which opened in 2010.
The Canopy promises spacious guest rooms that average 480 square feet, with wood floors, 60-inch high-definition TVs, and large bathrooms with walk-in showers and private toilet areas. A variety of one- and two-bedroom corner suites will be offered, as well.
The hotel will have an entrance on LaSalle Street, with the reception area, a restaurant, a bar and the Canopy Central lobby on the 20th floor of the building. Amenities will include a fitness center, a rooftop terrace and bar, and 4,000 square feet of meeting space. Canopy brand perks will include complimentary breakfast -- served in the Canopy Central lobby or delivered to the guest room -- and complimentary beer-and-wine tastings in the lobby each evening.
"With convenient proximity to Chicago's central business district, dining, shopping and the theater district, and Canopy's dedication to comfort and service, our Canopy by Hilton hotel will be a natural choice for both business and leisure travelers looking for a true Chicago experience," noted Michael W. Reschke, chairman and CEO of the Prime Group, owner and developer of the hotel.
