Houston's Moran CityCentre Hotel Getting Major Renovation

Work on the 244 guest rooms is complete, and upgrades to the 10,000 square feet of meeting space and the F&B options will finish by the end of the summer.

The Moran CityCentre Hotel

A multimillion-dollar propertywide renovation is taking place at the 244-room Moran CityCentre in Houston, the first major update since the hotel opened in 2009. The project is adding a modern Texas-inspired aesthetic, state-of-the-art amenities and new food-and-beverage offerings.

"The Moran CityCentre, named after [developer] Midway’s founder Jim Moran, is a signature property within our flagship mixed-use development," said Robert Williamson, senior vice president of investment management for Midway, the hotel's real estate investment and development firm. "The renovation seeks to create a destination that distinguishes itself not only in Houston but as a model of hospitality and design. The goal is to blend the essence of Texas with sophisticated elements, ensuring a memorable stay for our guests."

Already complete is the extensive renovation of all 244 guest rooms, which updated the furnishings and added premium bedding, contemporary light fixtures and cutting-edge technology enhancements. The rooms now have chic bar carts highlighting Texas-based liquors such as Tito’s Vodka and Garrison Brothers Texas Whiskey, along with various snack options, coffee service utilizing Illy products, custom bath products and robes, and handheld steamers.

The Meetings and Events Centre, accessible by skybridge from the hotel, features 10,000 square feet of meeting space that will be redesigned. A new lobby bar with a patio overlooking CityCentre’s central plaza will be added, and the hotel's restaurant will be reimagined. The fitness center will be upgraded with all-new equipment, including Peloton bikes. The common spaces also are being renovated, including the hotel entrance, the lobby and the front desk. This work is scheduled to finish up this summer.

“The Moran CityCentre is committed to providing guests with an enjoyable and relaxing experience,” said general manager Steven Terrebonne. “This renovation is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence. We look forward to sharing the refreshed offerings with our guests.”
