Now open at the Texas Medical Center is the 354-room InterContinental Houston Medical Center, the first full-service luxury hotel to open in the area in decades. The property in Central Houston is close by numerous medical facilities, like the Texas A&M Health Science Center, the Texas Childrens Hospital and the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The upscale rooms are equipped with 50-inch smart HDTVs, Nespresso coffee makers, high-end Agraria bath products, fiber-optic HSIA wireless service and wired HSIA high-speed connections. Of the 354 guest rooms, 37 are designated Upscale Suites with some extra space to call home for the night.
Healthy Mediterranean fare is featured at Safina, which has a private room for up to 18 guests. Small bites, cocktails and coffees are available at the Naturalist Café and Lounge.
The hotel's 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space is broken into eight conference rooms, such as the 7,646-square-foot grand ballroom, and includes 6,000 square feet of prefunction space, an outdoor terrace and a 3,800-square-foot outdoor pool terrace event space.
