The 492-room Renaissance Austin Hotel near the Austin Arboretum in Texas has completed a $10 million renovation to its indoor and outdoor public spaces. The property's meeting space, which has been expanded to 81,000 square feet, was refreshed with new colors, carpet, lighting, sound systems, digital signage and artwork. Outside, the new Lawn at Glass Oaks welcomes special events, along with the new 3,600-square-foot glassed-in space.
“We are thrilled that this beautiful Austin property has been greatly enhanced with the multimillion-dollar investment by our hotel ownership, which has transformed our public spaces inside and out,” said general manager Rob Gillette.
New amenities added during the project include a cutting-edge Peloton cycling room, an expanded fitness center space with all-new equipment, the R Club concierge lounge on the lobby level, and the Governor Suite, a new hospitality suite on the top floor. Enhanced design elements can be seen throughout the hotel lobby and atrium, including new carpeting, lighting, furniture, wall coverings and décor.
The Lawn at Glass Oaks on the south side of the hotel is a landscaped green space with shade trees, and the glassed-in event space faces the arboretum's ridge line terrace. A large stone fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs provides a rustic setting for groups and guests.
A new café, Choza, has opened in the atrium. On the morning menu are coffees, fresh tortillas, pastries and breakfast tacos; at night, Choza becomes a tequila bar, with craft tacos, local spirits and margarita specials. Choza's swings add a playful touch to the atrium.
Further enhancements are coming to the hotel later this fall. The Knotty Deck & Bar restaurant will get an outdoor pergola featuring lush vine greenery, lights and misting fans. The hotel’s outdoor pool will be transformed into a more resort-style space, with an enlarged deck, an outdoor spa, a second fire pit and upgraded furniture.
The Renaissance Austin Hotel is on nearly 10 acres, surrounded by oak trees. The property is near the Domain's restaurants, bars and retail shopping.
