Scheduled to open in July, the Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District will be the first new full-service hotel to open in Nebraska's largest city in more than 10 years. It will be the anchor of downtown Omaha's $205 million Capitol District development, which will include 218 luxury residential apartments, Class A office space and a 525-slot parking garage. There will also be 90,000 square feet of retail space for restaurants, shops and entertainment around a state-of-the-art plaza area that will serve as a modern-day town square.
The hotel itself will have 333 guest rooms, a rooftop swimming pool and bar, a full-service restaurant, a Starbucks, an attached parking garage, an outdoor events area, and 17,000 square feet of meeting space, including an 11,000-square-foot ballroom which will be one of Omaha's largest.
"We are very pleased with the progress of the hotel construction and we are excited to be a part of this new and important development in Omaha," Joseph Khairallah, COO of Marcus Hotels & Resorts, the property's owner, said last fall. "The Marriott Capitol District Hotel will be ideal for meetings, conventions, special events, weddings, galas and other corporate gatherings. The ballroom on the second floor will overlook the plaza area and will be connected with direct access to the town square area, providing a unique experience for events and gatherings."
Added Mike Moylan, president and CEO of Shamrock Development, the Capitol District's developer, "The Capitol District development will bring a new energy and synergy to the city's downtown and we are thrilled to bring Marriott and Marcus Hotels' tradition of extraordinary service and personalized hospitality to residents and visitors alike."
