New sustainable conference space has opened on the northern side of the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Center grounds in the Netherlands. The Amtrium's ground floor has a 5,800-square-foot ballroom and a 6,480-square-foot lounge that is linked to RAI halls 4/5 and 1. Sliding walls allow the ballroom and the lounge to be combined. A new two-floor restaurant has been built on the northern side of the building. The Amtrium also features an 1,100-square-foot meeting room plus 9,882 square feet of exhibition space with views of the city.
The Amtrium was built to international sustainability standards and features a five-story vertical greenhouse that grows vegetables, herbs and edible flowers for the restaurants of the RAI. The new space has already received a four-star (excellent) New Construction Design Certificate from the Netherlands' arm of BREEAM, an environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings.
A new hotel for the convention facility is under construction. The NHow Amsterdam RAI from the NH Hotel Group will open in 2018 with 650 rooms, a TV studio on the top floor, an art gallery, a sculpture garden and a spa.
RAI has nearly 1 million square feet of exhibit space in 11 halls.
