Meetings-Technology Company Aventri Appoints New CEO

Jim Sharpe joins the organization with a background in high-growth, technology-enabled businesses.

Aventri, an event-management technology provider, has named Jim Sharpe as its new CEO. Sharpe replaces Oni Chukwu, who spent six years as CEO and will now take on the role of executive chairman.

"Under [Chukwu]'s leadership, Aventri has grown into a formidable organization, providing market-leading solutions to its nearly 2,000 customers worldwide," said Rich Lawson, chairman of the board of directors, in a statement. "We're delighted to have him remain on the board to continue helping to chart the future of the company. We're also very excited to welcome Sharpe to lead Aventri's best-in-class executive team and continue to grow Aventri's footprint in the global meeting and event technology space."

Sharpe joins Aventri with extensive experience driving revenue at high-growth, technology-enabled businesses. He previously served as general manager and managing director of financial services at Gerson Lehrman Group, a professional-education services company. Sharpe also worked as CEO of Standard Purification, an activated-carbon manufacturing company, and spent 12 years on the board of directors for Lux Research, which provides tech-enabled research and advisory solutions.

"I am thrilled to be joining Aventri at such an exciting time in the company's history," said Sharpe. "We are now well positioned to take advantage of our market leadership to significantly scale the business. I look forward to working with the Aventri team, and especially our customers, to continue to innovate and deliver the best solution and experience in the industry."
