Belize Resorts Upgrade for Groups
Placencia Peninsula, off the southern coast of
Belize, is but a slip of low-lying sandy terrain. Yet two new
high-end boutique resorts are hoping to lure incentive groups to
this up-and-coming corner of the Caribbean with a number of
enticing enhancements.
The 32-room Inn at Robert’s Grove, which sits on 15 acres, added
a second pool and a conference and banquet room capable of seating
70. By year’s end, the resort is scheduled to enlarge its open-air
spa, add a full-service salon and unveil a private marina.
The nearby 18-villa Turtle Inn, owned by film director Francis
Ford Coppola, has been completely restored (after being damaged by
Hurricane Iris) and is scheduled to reopen in December.
The area already is well-established as a diving destination,
and both properties have in-house tour operators who arrange boat
tours of the nearby Monkey River, deep-sea fishing charters or
excursions to inland Mayan ruins.
