DOWNTOWN DEVELOPS
A project to reinvigorate this upstate city is under way and
includes the groundbreaking of a new Hilton Garden Inn.
Construction begins this month on the 110-room property, adjacent
to the Ithaca Commons pedestrian mall. The $25 million project also
calls for 100,000 square feet of office space. In addition, public
parking facilities are being improved, and other commercial and
retail developments are under way in the Six Mile Creek area.

CENTER EXPANDS
The city-owned Yakima Convention Center debuted an expansion in
August that adds space for both events and parking. The
6,000-square-foot South Ballroom, which can be subdivided into six
breakout rooms, was added to the facility’s existing 23,458 square
feet of function space. Prefunction space was nearly doubled, going
from 6,000 square feet to 11,600 square feet. The parking lot was
expanded, too; another 130 spaces were added.
