CENTER IN THE WORKS
The new Galveston Island Convention Center at The San Luis broke
ground in November 2002. Upon opening in spring 2004, the venue
will offer 55,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space and a
15,000-square-foot ballroom. The event marked the start of a
revitalization project along Seawall Boulevard, where other plans
call for the expansion of the Hilton Galveston Island Resort and a
new Rainforest Cafe and Retail Village.
