FUNDING PLAN UNVEILED
A financing plan for a $198 million expansion of the Albert B.
Sabin Cincinnati Convention Center was unveiled in January. The
project calls for a new 40,000-square-foot ballroom and 30,000
square feet of function space, bringing the center’s capacity to
194,000 square feet of exhibit space and 40 meeting rooms. To fund
the project, hotel tax in Cincinnati’s Hamilton County would rise
by 4.5 percent to 13.5 percent; city hotel tax would increase by
another 1.5 percent for a total of 16.5 percent. Pending state
approval, officials hope for a 2005 debut.
