EXPANSION NEARLY DONE
In early March, steel trusses rose above the Dallas Convention
Center exhibit floor, ready to hold an arched roof to be built over
the new 203,000-square-foot Exhibit Hall F. Primary construction on
the $128.8 million project is scheduled to finish in June. When the
column-free hall opens in September, the center will offer a total
of more than a million square feet of exhibit space; about 726,000
square feet will be contiguous.

VAST NEW VENUES
The Mall of America will soon have serious competition. DestinyUSA,
being built near this Northern New York town, will offer myriad
retail, recreation, entertainment, dining and hospitality options.
Highlights are a 90,000-square-foot aquarium, a 68-acre
glass-enclosed park (it gets chilly here), a 50,000-square-foot
exposition center and 4,000 hotel rooms. Construction dates have
not been announced, but plans are to open some venues by
mid-2003.
