KALAHARI BRANCHES OUT
To better compete with nearby Madison and Milwaukee for convention
groups, the African-themed Kalahari Resort known for its huge
indoor water park is more than doubling the size of its convention
center. When finished in summer 2004, the 378-room resort will have
125,000 square feet of meeting space. This Midwestern town also got
its first destination spa in March. The Sundara Spa has 26 guest
suites and 14 treatment rooms.

ARTY NEW HOTEL
Block E, a shopping and entertainment center that opened last
September, welcomed the 255-room Le Méridien Minneapolis in April.
The hotel is the chain’s only Art+Tech property in the United
States; rooms feature plasma-screen TVs, etched glass headboards
and high-output showers. The hotel has a ballroom, seven meeting
rooms and a 500-seat auditorium. Opening next month in Block E is
Escape, a nightclub/martini bar and, by day, a conference
center.
