AQUARIUM IMPROVEMENTS
Just across the Delaware River from downtown Philadelphia, the New
Jersey State Aquarium is giving its most prized inhabitants a
little more fin room. A $30 million expansion will finish in 2005,
at which time a marketplace of shops and restaurants will open in
the area; a hotel and a conference center are in the early planning
stages. This fall, a light- rail system connecting Camden to
Trenton, N.J., will open.

DOUBLE THE SPACE
The Oregon Convention Center has doubled in size, now offering
255,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, 50 meeting rooms
and two ballrooms. The facility is in the Lloyd business and retail
district and along the TriMet MAX light-rail system. The MAX will
wrap up an expansion in September that includes a 5.8-mile spur
along Interstate Avenue linking hotels, the convention center, the
airport and the Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center.
